John Burnside FRSL FRSE (19 March 1955 – 29 May 2024) was a Scottish writer. He was one of only four poets (the others being Ted Hughes, Sean O'Brien and Jason Allen-Paisant) to have won both the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for the same book (Black Cat Bone). In 2023, he won the David Cohen Prize.
